AUGUST 2023 NEWSLETTER

NATURAL DYEING BLOG * SEASALT X ELKA * WORKSHOPS

Hi folks!

We hope you're having a good summer. Ours has been filled with the usual school holiday juggle, but we did manage to get away for some sunshine, sea and mountains for a few weeks so feeling recharged and ready for autumn.

A stone, yarn, scissors and a tapestry needle is all you need for stone weaving.

Last month we collaborated with the Cornish brand Seasalt who were interested in the sustainable and mindful elements to our business.

We're the first brand that they've featured for their 'Modern Creatives' project outside of Cornwall and we were delighted to welcome their lovely team to the studio.

It was a nice opportunity to talk about the launch of my book 'Weaving as Art Therapy for Beginners' which is now available for pre-sale on our website (see notes below on getting a free advance copy), and share one of the projects within.

You will find a video tutorial on stone weaving, and a video and Q&A on the Seasalt website.

Some of you will know that I've spent the best part of this year writing a book.

'Weaving as Art Therapy for Beginners' teaches the basics of frame loom weaving, but also shows you various off-loom weaving techniques, from fallen branches and stones to your kitchen door.

There is a chapter of ten different therapeutic weaving activities that have been co-written with an art therapist to help ease anxiety, stress and depression and burnout, along with activities for self-love, happiness, gratitude, relaxation, letting go and hope.

Though it is now available on our website for presale, I am looking for a group of people who, in exchange for a free digital copy, would be willing to give me some feedback and a review.

If this is something that you'd be interested in, please keep an eye out for the next email which will have details on how to get involved. I can't wait to share this book with you all!

NATURAL DYEING WITH DYER'S COREOPSIS

Claudia's natural dyeing blog this month is on coreopsis. These were grown in my garden and have produced some stunning shades, from nude to tangerine. We've also managed a YouTube video this month which we're hoping to make a regular feature. Read and watch below. ๐ŸŒผ
